There are 14 weight
classes. Weight classes are 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140,
145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215 and 275 pounds.
A two (2) pound
allowance will be given, January 9, 2007. One additional
pound will be given on January 23, 2007 and one pound on
February 6.
All wrestlers must
be certified by, January 8. Each eligible squad member
must establish a weight classification which becomes the
certified weight any weight that the wrestler has wrestled in a
meet prior to or on January 8 may be the certified weight.
Exception 1: A
wrestler that was academically ineligible during the weight
certification period may be certified once eligibility has been
established.
Exception 2: A
wrestler that was injured during the weight certification period
may be certified once released by the attending physician that
indicates the date(s) of the wrestler’s incapacitation.
Note: No one may
certify their weight, for any reason, after the independent
competition cut-off tournament cut-off date. Anyone not
certified by that date is ineligible for OHSAA tournament
competition.
After certifying, no
wrestler may participate in either a regular season or OHSAA
tournament match in a weight class below the certified weight.
Prior to
establishing certified weight, a wrestler may compete in any
weight classification for which the wrestler makes weight.
Wrestlers may compete only in their actual weight class or one
weight class above weigh-in weight.
A wrestler who
weights-in more than one weight class above his certified weight
(class), automatically re-certified at the higher weight.
A wrestler must weigh in and wrestler on-half of the regular
season (weigh-ins) at certified weight. If a wrestler makes
weight and his match is decided by forfeit, the wrestler is
deemed to have “wrestled” at that weight.
